Our captains have been fishing the area for over 35 years and have caught every saltwater species in the area. Captain Scott had the pleasure of fishing with a wonderful family this month. Amauri, his brother Marcos, his son Marcos and his son Marco along with two young ladies came out to explore what offshore fishing had to offer. They were traveling from Brazil to spend some time at this beautiful destination. While here, they had to get out in the deep blue sea.
They adventured out on a two day fishing charter out of Tampa Beach. The weather conditions were great on both days. Sea conditions were not as great on the first day creating an opportunity to fish closer to shore. While fishing there, they caught several species of fish. The main catch was migrating and spawning Redfish. Most of the catches of redfish weighed in at 20-50 pounds.
Sea conditions laid down and allowed them to go offshore the second day. Bottom fishing was what they wanted to do while offshore fishing. Captain Scott took them 25 miles offshore to one of his productive bottom fishing spots. After several drops, they started hooking into big red snapper. Cut bait was the magic on this fishing trip.
This awesome group got to experience many different catches. They had a grouper on as well but you have to know how to fish for them. When grouper get hooked into, they want to run and dig into the rocks. Once this happens, you are most likely going to lose the fish.
Some additional species caught were sea bass. Sea bass can be caught on the bottom as well. Interesting enough, the reef they were fishing also was holding barracuda. This group really enjoyed landing a 5 foot barracuda.
Captain Scott really enjoyed fishing with these clients. It is always nice to be able to share something you love with travelers and visitors. Captain Scott holds Tampa Beach close to his heart and would love to show you what is so magical about this destination. He looks forward to seeing you on the water next time.

Captain Mark adventured out on a perfect day for some fishing. Conditions were nice with 5-10 mph winds that kept the day cool and exciting. Eric, Doug, Katie, and Dan were even more excited to get to travel offshore on our fishing charter. They were in store for an awesome day!
When Captain Mark arrived at the fishing grounds, the group immediately started catching them. Bottom Fishing is the tactic and method of choice when fishing in Tampa. They were catching Lane Snapper, Mangrove Snappers, and short Groupers. Eric, Doug, Katie, and Dan kept roughly half of the fish along with one keeper grouper.
Captain Mark had one heavy rod out for a larger grouper and the line went off while waiting. It was something big but we could not make out what it was. After a 30 minute battle, the fish surfaced and it was a 7-foot hammerhead shark. You never know what you will catch when adventuring out fishing here in Tampa on a Tampa Grouper Fishing Charter.
After bottom fishing, the group wanted to try some trolling. When trolling here offshore in Tampa, you are in search for Mahi Mahi and big fish like King Mackerel or Kingfish. They were not able to connect with a Kingfish but found caught a Spanish mackerel.
Captain Mark is looking forward to fishing with Eric, Doug, Katie, and Dan again in the future. If you are looking for a great way to bond with your family, a Tampa Fishing Charter is the way to go. Tampa, Florida is a beautiful place to visit. It has many different attractions from its gorgeous sandy beaches to the inshore and offshore fishing adventures.
I had the pleasure of fishing with Kelly and her party that wanted to experience what the waters of the Gulf had to offer. One of the best parts about fishing here is the endless amounts of opportunity you have to catch the fish you have been after.
While we were slow trolling live bait, we were able to box a 30 pound King Mackerel. They enjoyed the rush and fight from this amazing fish. Aggressive Barracuda also came out to play and we caught a number of those. Not necessarily targeted but very exciting to catch for all ages.
Off the coast of Tampa, you can catch a multitude of species of fish. The possibilities are endless. Take a break from the beautiful beaches and enjoy the view from a beautiful boat that trolls the waters in search for all the major game fish.
We look forward to fishing with these wonderful people again in the future and if you want some of this action this summer, do not miss out!

Taste, of course, is a matter of personal preference. Something that tastes delicious to one person may not be tasty to another. Still, there are those that are thought delicious by most people. The following are some saltwater species that a lot of people think are the best tasting fish.
This is another favorite – can be raw wherein it is soft and juicy and can be cooked in several ways, such as fried or in soup, wherein the meat is flaky and delicious.
Monk Fish
With a tail meat that tastes like lobster, this fish is considered the “poor man’s lobster”. Although the fish, itself, does not look appealing, its meat is so delicious that many people consider this a favorite.
Halibut has low fat content and is so delicious that it still tastes wonderful even with little seasoning. This fish is often broiled, grilled, or fried.
Cod
A common ingredient in “fish and chips”, the meat of this fish is moist and flaky. Its liver is also considered a delicacy.
Salmon
This is among the most popular fish – raw, smoked, or cooked. Aside from having a delicious meat, this fish is also favored because of its high nutritional value.
Tuna
Most of the tuna species have a delicious meat, high nutritional value, and delicious even when canned.
Florida boasts of having over 8,000 miles of coastline as well as 4,500 miles of inland waterways. With this much water for cruising, it is no wonder that boating is such a popular sport in the state. Many boaters often find themselves cruising over Florida waters and its waterways for the sheer beauty of it. Many types of boats have graced the waters of Florida ranging from mega-yachts to wooden skiffs. In Florida, owning a boat is as normal as owning a car.
Florida Waterways
The wonders of boating in Florida are further enhanced with its waterways, passages where boats can pass through for maximum boating experience. There are many waterways maintained by the Florida Inland Navigation District, the two most common and popular are the Intracoastal Waterway or ICW and the Okeechobee Waterway.
The ICW is also known as “the ditch” and is a natural but dredged channel. This channel extends 500 miles down the east coast of Florida to the tip of the Keys. This is a very popular boating route because it runs through rivers, creeks as well-dredged canals, giving boaters an extremely great variety in boating experience.
The Okeechobee Waterway, on the other hand, is composed of 135 miles of boating route. Extremely popular during the summer, this waterway runs along the St. Lucie Canal from Stuart, across the lake, then on to Sanibel Island via the Caloosahatchee River.
Just as cars park in a parking lot, boats do so as well but in ports. Boats aren’t just anchored anywhere. There are many great places to anchor in Tampa including across Ponce Inlet in front of sandbar of the Island; the anchorage in Boca Chica Harbor; and the bayside by Sand’s Cut. Brevard County also has a great place to anchor such as sand Island across Tampa Inlet.
Boating Rules and Regulations
It is recommended that before purchasing a boat or even before boating in Florida, especially for those new in the area, to get acquainted with the state’s boating rules and regulations for a safe and legal boating experience.
